about

Pills is the second original song we learned together after playing punk rock covers from the golden age (76-80) for about a year. If I had to pin this tune to an influence, i’d actually say it aims quite a few years later. I don’t think it sounds much like the band ALL, but if I had to pick a driving influence on the music side, that’d be it.

lyrics

Pills (Lyrics by David Diers)

I’d do anything to get me some cheap thrills
Doctor says “that’s easy son, I’m knee deep in pills”
I start my hour long rant about my affliction
Doctor stops me five minutes in and gives me his prescription

Pills, pills, pills, Pills, pills, pills
Gimme gimme gimme gimme, gimme gimme gimme, gimme
Pills, pills, pills, Pills, pills, pills
Gimme gimme gimme gimme, gimme

Verse 2
Pills to make me you tall, Pills to make you blue
Pills to make you smart and spell things out for you
Pills to make you sleep, pills to make you talk
(And the ones that mother gives you – don’t do anything at all)
And the ones that Grace Slick gives you - they don't do anything at alls

Chorus

Bridge
Pill is a four letter word
Or haven’t you heard
The doctor says I am cured
But I am not sure
There’s a cure for medicine

Verse 3
Gimme the best dope you got I want to feel great
Doctor says the only dope I see is standing 5 foot 8
Gimme the best pills you got, my life’s a mess
I don’t want to feel anything, not even nothingness.
